Country cooking vacation

Learn authentic Italian country cooking!

We offer you cooking lessons with a difference. In most countries when you go to your local Italian restaurant – the food available bears little resemblance to the food really eaten by the people in their homes in Italy. Even in Italy, when visiting tourist areas you might be offered a sort of international Italian food, again not that which the people eat in their own homes.

We feel that if you are to learn to cook Italian food you should learn to cook the food that the Italians themselves cook and eat at home. An important factor in country cooking, is the use of locally grown ingredients – many people in Castel Cellesi grow their own vegetables and even keep hens to provide fresh eggs daily.

Your stay in Castel Cellesi will not only informative, but fun!

Your cooking experience will take place in the homes of the local villagers. You will go to a home and the family will talk to you about their favourite dishes, explain their use of ingredients, how and where they do their shopping and then proceed to cook as you watch and help. You will be free to ask any questions you wish.

Then when the delicious meal has been cooked you will sit down with the family to eat it! Of course you will also be offered wine produced in the village! You will be learning local food traditions and you will be able to return home and honestly say that you have had genuine Italian home cooked food .

Flexibility is important for us, and you will be free to choose how much of your vacation you dedicate to having cooking lessons and how much time to dedicate to relaxing in the village or visiting some of the marvellous nearby places of interest.

There is so much to see and do in the area – you might like to dedicate a day or two to visiting Castiglione, a beautiful hillside town famous for its many wine cantinas, or perhaps Montefiascone, another wine producing town, with its beautiful views of lake Bolsena.
